Roasting coffee at home

Roasting coffee at home was a common practice in Europe, America and the Middle East up until the 1900’s. With the rise of the Industrial Age, food and coffee began to be mass produced. Roasted coffee was packaged in cans and sold by grocers. The coffeehouse and local roaster reclaimed mediocre coffee and gave birth to specialty coffee. Now, many people roast at home because the coffee is fresher, more flavorful and fun.
